I'm trying to run the setup but I'm getting an error. I'm not sure why this is happening because it shows that photoshop is supported on the Wine Database

Just because an app shows as compatible on WineHQ doesn't mean that there wasn't massive amounts of fiddling and tweaking involved with getting said application to work. General rule of thumb: the more complex an application, the less likely it is to work through Wine.

Photoshop isn't by any means a simple beast.

Also, WineHQ shows that CS3 isn't really compatible with Wine. It's clearly mentioned that the installer will crash, but a patch is available to get past this. Overall, the app gets a Bronze rating, which means that someone got it working, but expect it to crash a lot and generally behave strangely.

My advice: Learn to use GIMP or install Windows somewhere.

Or use CS2, that runs fine under wine. I have CS4 at work and CS2 at home and I've not yet used any of the fancy new toys and find the CS4 layout and window behavior a bit annoying. CS2 does it all for me, and I'm a professional photographer. :)
