View Full Version : Is it true that Ubuntu 10.04 name will be Lazy Lion?

So, yeah... That's the question! There are plenty of Spanish, French and Russian sites that have announced new name, but is it official?

I sure hope not.

Me too... There are far more interesting suggestions in the official unofficial name thread.

I don't think so. We'd have seen a bunch of people saying "WTF? Lazy Lion? BUT I LIKED LEAPING LEMUR!" if there had been an official announcement.

"How you name the ship, that way it will go..." Thank God, there is a plenty of time to choose the most appropriate one!

Lazy Lion is an awesome name, and it suits it. Why do work when ubuntu does it for you?

I think it sounds as though the devs are lazy.

If you think about it there is virtually no chance to have such a common adjective in the name. It's going to be something that is less used in day-to-day speak.

Lazy Lion sounds good actually but Leaping Lion, Leaping Lemur or Leaping Leopard sound much better I think.

Worse however, for 10.10 someone has already suggested Majestic Manatee... If Lazy Lion gets the nod then we're in danger of having two upgrades with animals that promote sluggishness. Not the best strategy for gaining new users maybe...

I would only suggest that a new Adjective be proposed:

Lightning: as in Lightning fast!

Lightning

–adjective

3. of, pertaining to, or resembling lightning, esp. in regard to speed of movement: lightning flashes; lightning speed.http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Lightning

Then add your favorite animal:

Lightning Liger
Lightning Lemur
Lightning Lion
Lightning Lemming
etc.

I am hoping the 10.04 release to be exceptional since it will be the first release of the decade. The name should be exceptional as well. Something that we can all look back on as one of the best releases ever for its time.

BTW "Lightning Lion" is l33t name.. It describes, speed, strength and courage.. A perfect name to start the decade.

I approve this messege!

Haha, Lazy Lizard sounds somewhat depressing, but it could be worse. For example, I was thinking about Lugubrious Ligar.

10.04 is an LTS release, so it will have a name that implies a highly polished distribution.

Lofty Lynx, probably.
