Load Ubuntu into RAMDISK from hard drive image

Well i got 8 gig of ram, and would like the possibility to use 4gig for Ubuntu.

run OS from ramdisk and when PC is turned off, write changes to a image on hd that reloads back to ramdisk on bootup!

is this possible?

Yes, it's possible. I haven't had much success with it, but you can take a look at it.
