When I install new software on the Admin account such as Media Player, it works fine. However, when I log into the guest account, the same media content won't play; movies, music, radio etc. There's no sound at all.

On the Guest account, click on the icon at the top of the screen that looks like a loudspeaker, and make sure that it's set to the full. And if that doesn't work, try the different sound devices by right-clicking on the loudspeaker and clicking "Open Volume Control".
