So I do a clean install of Ubuntu, and test locking and unlocking the screen with the local account. Works fine. Next I configure the machine the authenticate against my LDAP server and to add users on the fly to plugdev, audio, video, and dialout using /etc/security/group. Now logging in as one of the LDAP users, if I lock the screen I am unable to unlock it. What will happen, is I move the mouse or press keys, the screensaver will clear to a black screen for a second and then go back to the screen saver the second the input stops (without ever showing the login prompt). This also happens if you just let the screensaver start. Any ideas?
