I find Poles to be a generally friendly people, so I never have any problem with them in threads.

I thought you meant Polish people. You know, they are also called Poles....although, in their case, it MUST be a capital. While in the case of a "pole" (picture of which you've posted) it MUST NOT not be capitalized unless used at the start of a sentence, which in the case of this thread is NOT the case!
