I've decided to upgrade the partition my ubuntu is on to ext4, which requires reinstalling Ubuntu. If I format the partition, change it to free space, make it ext4, then reinstall ubuntu, will I still be able to boot using grub? This is probably a dumb question, but I just wanted to make sure it won't screw up the mbr in a way I hadn't predicted.

When you reinstall Ubuntu it reinstalls Grub (I think), so you should be fine. Anyhow I installed mine using Ext4 with absolutely no problems. I dual boot with Vista, so the MBR was there.

Yeah, I dual boot with Vista as well. Okay, thank you very much for the quick reply! =)
