problem : desktop disappear when i put a cd

my problem is :
when i put any cd in my cd writer the desktop icons hide and the cd don't open or any thing open
and when i put the cd outside the desktop icons still hide
some information :
linux / ubutun 9.04
cd rw : LG

but it was work good in windows ago
