I've recently purchased a Dell 10v. I would like to dual boot Ubuntu NBR and (the already installed) XP. Is that possible without having to reinstall Windows XP? If so, please tell me how. I do not own an external dvdrom, so it is of great importance that Windows XP still works after installing NBR. Right now, I have one partition (of 160 gig).

I understand that this question will have been asked before. I used the search function, but could not find a satisfying answer. If someone has, I'd be very pleased if you copied the url.

Hello there,

Normally, during the installation, you will simply be asked the question wether you want ubuntu to take the whole hard disk or simply be installed side-by-side with windows.

Have a nice day,

Yes, I know, but won't that "corrupt" XP, make it unbootable?

If you carefully follow the instructions, no, it will not corrupt XP. UNR is no different from other ubuntu flavor, and there is a multitude of posts on dual booting on this forum. The only difference is that you will install with a usb-drive rather than a cd
