View Full Version : [kubuntu] Putting Gnome apps back into KDE menu

I decided to give Gnome a go, and installed it alongside KDE. I stripped the Gnome menu of all the KDE items, after backing up the existing menu configurations...

Now I'm back with KDE (after lasting a whole day, lol), and have found that all my Gnome items have disappeared from the menu. Things like Openoffice, gimp etc that I'd quite like to have back...

The problem is, I didn't check the backed up menu file before altering it, and it turns out that it's only backed up two items!

I'm great at copying and pasting commands into a terminal but that's about it, and I'm hoping someone here can help me out. I've manually removed the 'OnlyShowIn=GNOME' bits from the apps that I want, but am not sure how to copy them into the usr/share/applications folder with the command line. Doing it with Dolphin just gets me a popup telling me I don't have permission

Thanks for any advice.
