View Full Version : [kubuntu] problem in configuring ad-hoc in kubuntu

September 1st, 2009, 07:12 AM
I wanted to set up an ad-hoc link in between kubuntu and windows.
kubuntu machine is connected to the LAN with a ethernet cable.
I want to set up and ad-hoc link and hence internet acess to windows machine.

I encounted following error when i follow up the docs referred by https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Adhoc?highlight=%28adhoc%29.

when i try to set the mode it fails

nuwan@nuwan-laptop:~/cexample$ sudo iwconfig eth0 mode ad-hoc
[sudo] password for nuwan:
Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) :
SET failed on device eth0 ; Operation not supported.

what is the possible error for this?
here is my wireless details
