Hi Friends,

I had my hard disk installed with ubuntu Hardy Heron. Due to some problem with the old machine (WITH AMD MULTI PROCESSOR) I had to port to the new Intel QUAD CORE machine. I connected all of the hardware and booted the system.

I logged in as a administrator. After I login:

The busy icon stays and doesn't go of the screen.

The mother board has an on board network card installed on it and the card is not working. So, I tried to repair the problem by opening up a terminal.

With the busy icon it allowed me to double click the terminal and open it. After it opened I tried to issue the command ifconfig -a. This froze the terminal too.

When I move the terminal window on the screen it is erasing all the icons on desktop (the busy icon is still present).

I have a dual monitor with NVIDIA graphics card. The dual screen is also not working up.

Can you please help me with this.

So it's a new motherboard?

I would do this:

live-boot Hardy Heron from CD to see if that works.
AND
live-boot 9.04 (or even 9.10 Alpha) from CD to see if that works.
