repositories for 7.10 no longer available

Using Ubuntu 9.04 and on an "old" box still Ubuntu 7.10.
When ever I try to use Synaptic on "7.10", I get the message : repositories no longer available or network connection not working....
Is this realy trhe case leaving Ubuntu 7.10 users in the cold ?

7.10 lost support some time ago.

sooner or later software gets better and the old stuff has to go.


i believe there are backports that can be enabled.
