Hi all,

We all know that ubuntu, as any other linux distro, is highly customizable, but is there any option to select certain programs to be installed while installing ubuntu. For example, I don't want to use evolution or totem player, and I want to be able to uncheck those programs while doing a fresh ubuntu install.

Thank you

Go with a minimal installation (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD) and build from there and if you would like to give a copy to your mates just remastersys (http://www.ubuntugeek.com/creating-custom-ubuntu-live-cd-with-remastersys.html).

+1, exactly that.

this page (http://sites.google.com/site/masonux/home/notes-to-myself) may be of some use to you as an example of the exact procedure that i have used in the past.

Another cool idea is to use Reconstructor to remaster a live / install cd to contain only the packages you want. Then you can easily install on many machines, or if you ever need to reinstall you don't have to start from scratch.

Remastersys could do something similar after you get everything set up.
