Hi, can you post the outputs to when you try install something?
this is the output when i m trying to install any package::
Cannot install 'vlc'
This application conflicts with other installed software. To install 'vlc' the conflicting software must be removed first.
Switch to the 'synaptic' package manager to resolve this conflict.

Open a terminal and try
sudo apt-get -f install

Or you can use synaptic to mark/unmark packages and install. Worth a try, either way (-f install or synpatic)

If you're logged in as root, you don't need to use sudo.
