i'm little new to ubuntu..
I have seen an application EKIGA SOFTWARE in ubuntu..
what exactly it is?? and how to use itt??

Ekiga is a skype-styled VIOP program.
It does not connect to skype, however. You need an account on ekiga.net.

I wouldn't bother getting too attached to it. It's gone when Karmic comes out in October. Empathy is replacing it. There's also Skype, but you'll need to enable to Medibuntu repository (http://www.medibuntu.org/) to get that.

Why would you need to enable medibuntu to get skype?
Skype is available from www.skype.com .Its a direct download and install.
If you are on 64 bit,medibuntu is probably a good idea.
