Execute application as screensaver

Hi and thaks in advance for any information you can provide me.

Is there any way of executing an application or script as a screensaver?
Or, would it be easy to program a simple screensaver to launch that other application?

what kind of application are you talking about?

It is a graphic Windows application that shows statitiscal data and works perfectly under wine.

So I would need to run some "wine <application>" everytime the screensaver is triggered.
