Linux use a sign of Criminal behaviour

If this has already been posted I apologize as it's a bit of an older story but I thought it was very interesting. Apparently simply being tech savvy and using a command prompt is now cause for seizure of property and a criminal investigation. Quite burn the evil technology at the stake!

Eh, and a black professor was arrested for breaking into his own house not too long ago. Police do stupid stuff sometimes. Happily, they operate at a municipal level and this doesn't really seem to constitute a national, systemic problem -- merely localized ignorance.

Regardless that is an old story if I am remembering correctly the EFF won the case and the police were firmly told that what they don't understand isn't necessarily evidence of wrongdoing.

If it were CNN, NBC, ABC, USA Today, or Yahoo news I would find it more interesting.

I can see where cases like that one come from. I was nice enough to help a co-worker that had locked his keys in his car. I made a make shift slim jim and opened his car in a matter of seconds (it was an old Ford Maverick) and within one week I had received multiple complains that people were telling the upper management that I was breaking in cars on my breaks. People are scared of others being knowledgeable.

Oh for pete's sake, I trust CNN about as much as I trust nickelodeon for my news, or fox or infowars, or any other news site, they've all got an agenda. Of course the news story is hardly fabricated and it really did happen. Either way like running rabbit said people fear knoweledge, I mean who the hell believes that Mitnick could launch nuclear missles by whistling into a phone, but the guy spent months in solitary for it.

plenty of things have done poorly on a national scale, don't just look at local police... look at events like 9/11, those terrorists somehow came into the country illegally, were able to get training on flying commercial planes (with no prior knowledge of smaller aircraft, like the FAA requires), somehow planned and sent messages to other countries that were ignored by high ranking officials as empty threats, and then somehow accomplished their goal of terrorizing a nation with box cutters and pocket knives, with not one government agency being notified that a bunch of planes had mysteriously fell off their flight plans.... can we say major screw up! And then to make people feel safe we take nail clippers, water bottles and knitting needles off planes... real genius!

And that man was arrested for not properly identifying himself, and civil disobedience... the cop wasn't being stupid.
But its a double edged sword. Just think of the backlash if some guy was seen climbing through a window, a cop stops him, and the guy says he owned the place, the cop doesn't check his identification or ask a neighbor for the owners description, and leaves, and the man robs the house... Now I would think that would be worse. The story only gained attention because the man was a friend of Obama from College. If this happened in Harlem or LA to some nobody it wouldn't have even made local news.

Ahh, 9/11, the jets completely incinerated yet the authorities said on the news that they found a passport belonging to one of the terrorists on the street. I am not going to go into the conspiracy theories, but the 9/11 that our government reported wasn't what really happened.
