I just got my Touchsmart tx2 up and running with k/Ubuntu. Is there any good software for writing notes with a pen stylus? Ether hand writing recognition or just to easily write a note and save it either as a text document or just as a raster image?

I'm a basic user so nothing from source please.

Thanks!

xournal. it does not do text recognition, it just stores the lines you draw. it does them as vectors, rather than pixels.

i have used it for lecture notes

I'm still trying to get my tablet to work like a tablet and not like a mouse. I'll admit, though, I'm interested in what applications are out there too.

Hi niallabrown & Dragonbite,

I like Xournal and CellWriter. You can annotate PDF's with Xournal.
