Why at higher screen resolution / refresh rates does my external laptop monitor (a widescreen x193w from Acer) have flickering edges on the icons, and a very slight 'scan line' type flickering all over?

It's set to 1440x900@75hz. This matches the manufacturers settings.

If I set the monitor to 1024x768, the scan lines disappear completely.

The monitor is fine on another Ubuntu box, and on an XP box at 1440x900@75hz.

The monitor is on a Dell laptop with a 200m graphics card. Might it be something to do with the open source graphics drivers?

This is a problem to the monitor side.
Maybe the freq could be change lower and see if the problem persist
if not send the monitor for warranty claim

Thanks for replying.

I don't think the monitor is faulty, as it syncs and works fine on XP at 1440x900@75.

I'll continue investigating I guess :D
