I downloaded the xubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso file and will burn it to a CD. I have Windows XP on my PC and was wondering if it is possible to install Xubuntu without touching my XP installation so that I can dual boot into either system.

Hi, yes you can dual boot Xubuntu with windows, during the partitioning stage of the install choose the option to resize your current o/s and use free space.

I started installing Ubuntu and get stuck at the partition option. Not sure exactly what to do here. Is there a video that will show me what to do when I come to the partitioning option or can someone tell me what to enter etc...?

Choose the option to "Install them side by side choosing between them each boot"

Choose the option to "Install them side by side choosing between them each boot"
When you choose that option, you will be given a slider which you can use to allocate partition sizes for each OS. You grab the HASH mark and slide (to the left, if I remember right), noting the sizings.
Use the slider or you will end up with a 2.5GB install.
Also, do back up and ... defrag windows (2x if you have the time).
