Is it possible without alternate cd(the main ubuntu desktop .iso)?

Colau, I believe you need the alternate iso file.
Do i have to copy the ubuntu.iso ,/boot in the same empty partition?
Or
/boot directory in c:\ partition and the ubuntu.iso in another partition(empty).

I was following this.
www.instantfundas.com (http://www.instantfundas.com/2007/08/install-any-linux-distro-directly-from.html?showComment=1251421723227#c2146461734823 856633)
But it's not working.
