One of the "gimmicks" is that they'll be giving every full price paying attender a HP 2140 laptop (http://is.gd/2BrEr) with Win7 and Office 2010.

I plan on installing Ubuntu immediately :-D

Any tips on how I can make that laptop appear _so_ much better than the other 2000 "free" laptops there?
Will start with compiz obviously...

Compiz on a netbook won't be that great. Your best bet would be finding a clean theme to use.

I've seen it run pretty good on an Asus EEE... I expect this thing to do that at least... plus if it can handle the win7 ultimate edition bloat.. it should breeze through with compiz
