I just downloaded ubuntu today. I'm loving it, fooling around with it a bit but since i'm new to the linux GUI i dont understand all of this completely. I wanted to watch a video on youtube but i can't figure out how to install adobe.. And also how to get googleearth..

These are both restricted (not installed by default for philosophical or legal reasons) but can easily be added. For a tutorial see:
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/sources
and also:
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/installingsoftware

The other links on the left are worth a read too :)

Also check your graphics driver is enabled:
System > Administration > Hardware Drivers

And, Welcome to Ubuntu!

if you are running 64 bit then see here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=772490) for a simple Flash 64bit install
