After upgrading to jaunty, my webcam (ID 0c45:613c Microdia PC Camera (SN9C120)) works, but... The picture it gives is even worse than before (way too bright), and.. I can not adjust colors/brightness/contrast etc. in any of the programs that offer such controls (amsn, xawtv, ekiga) also too bright in all other webcam apps (a.o. cheese, mplayer).
It works in w*nd*ws and gutsy 8.04, so it's not broken.
I installed the microdia driver per:
http://groups.google.com/group/microdia/web/testing-microdia-driver-draft
Gives the same result, way too bright...
It seems that none of the controls work, automatic brightness etc included... Maybe a bug in another module? Neither the drivers nor the programs seem to be at fault.

Any tips, suggestions are welcome!

TIA!

Well, the damn thing works!
It was kinda weird how I got to the solution, but, it works for me!
I also had some performance problems with the laptop I wanted to use the webcam on, an old toshiba sattelite pro (2.6 Ghz, intel 855gm chipset).
So I decided to try this:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1130582
and decide to go for OPTIMAL configuration.
Whammo! Webcam suddenly also works okay again!?
Video performance improved!
Not sure if this is completely right, but I will continue to evaluate.

Yihaa!
