Anandtech has a Linux section. Since the latest article is dated July 2005 it seems that Linux is not a top priority.

Maybe that's changing?

It seems silly to me that the review is based on 8.04. But aside from that, this is a fairly comprehensive article. I give it a thumbs up.

I think it was good read. It a great test of two "established" operating systems. I did like the part of Windows applications running faster in Wine, than on Winodws and the Ubutnu equivlents. that was interesting.

the part about Flash performance really bothered me. So did MP3 encoding and SMB perfomance. I've run into the network file issue myslef. It very annoying having a folder or file on a netorked drive that an applicaiton cannot access because it cannot use/see the mount point.

very good article

the problems listed should be what we focus on to resolve by the next LTS 10.xx

specially the package manager and outdated software parts of the article

I tend to ignore reports that are not current, I prefer Phoronix, FOSS is a priority of theirs.
