View Full Version : [ubuntu] how do i do new install from USB?

ok i have a sff PC that has no OS on it. i want to install Ubuntu on this but it has no cd/dvd . it can boot from a USB Hdd . i have searched but all i found was how to make a bootable version on a USBie a portable ubuntu. i want to install to the HDD in this sff PC from a USB stick/drive.
any help or pointers appreciated.

Use UnetBootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/) to put the downloaded iso file to the USB. Other then that, the installation is the same.

off to try it...

EDIT:
well it installed on the USb and seems to work but after a couple of tries it wont get to desktop on the PC. no biggie as i dont think its fast enough for what i had in mind. ubuntu started but x server wouldnt run.
