Hi, I am considering offering a local Ubuntu Course, Im not qualified in anything ubuntu but have been using it for around two year! I basically would like to run a small course for individuals and small businesses about the benefits and features of ubuntu.

I have two questions.

Am I allowed to charge an administration fee (CD's, Papers etc)
What is the best book to use for the course about Ubuntu

Any Advice,
Thanks,
Dan

The problem is most people want a bit of paper to go with their course. Without it your chargable rate is lower. In order to be able to offer it, you'll have to get certification yourself etc.

Hi thanks for the reply, In regards to being certified what do i have to do to become certified and is this hard?

Also is it a requirement to be certified and is there any legal things involved eg. Trademarks etc?

Cheers,
Dan

But that's only if the OP wants to offer a training course toward a certification. If they just want to teach a "how to use your new Ubuntu desktop to do FOO"...no need for that.

Thanks, sorry that is what i am wanting to do, basically enlighten people of Ubuntu as a free alternative to Windows.

Do you know of any books which would help?

Official Ubuntu Book?

Or you could use Akkana Peck's "Beginning Gimp: From Novice to Professional" to teach how to use GIMP for photo-editing on any platform. Task-based classes are better, IMO.

You may find the official Ubuntu Desktop Course material useful.
