I know this is on the forums over a thousand times but im going to ask again.

I have an external 60gb HD that i want to install ubuntu9.04 on. I currently have installed it and is working. The problem is that when i installed it, grub was installed on my works laptop and not on the extHD. So, I reinstalled 9.04 to the extHD along with grub installing the the extHD as well. Then i rewrote the mbr on the work laptop to get the laptop to boot correctly.
So, now i have 9.04 on the extHD and grub was installed there too. But, when i try to boot to the usb (extHD) on any computer, i get the famous Grub Error 17.

I did some reading on the error 17 (drive/partion order not reading correctly).

Anyway, my goal is to have the ubuntu 9.04 OS installed on the extHD and have it load on any computer that will boot from a usb/external drive.

Thanks in advance.
DS
