Attention sound keeps repeating

This only happens after a while, but the little sound that you get to let you know that the system is ready for your input (username/password), keeps repeating it self. How do I fix this?

That is typically due to a bug in the sound driver. You probably need either an older or a newer version of Ubuntu with a different kernel to work around it. E.g. try a live CD from 9.10 alpha 4 and see if that is better.

I'm running 9.04, is it possible to update to the latest sound driver of 9.10?
