no sound after adding ubuntu 9.04 on computer installed with xp

i need help!
i have a hp compaq dx2300 installed with xp sp2
after adding linux ubuntu 9.04 there is no sound on it!
but when i let it boot in xp there is a sound.
note the installed xp is in korean language while the
ubuntu was in english :(

SO Ubuntu sound is broken, can you hear the test sound files play at system > prefs > sound
