Thanks to Phreaker!

I use Grooveshark

I now have two music streaming choices! Grooveshark is a great accompaniment to Pandora! all though Grooveshark may be a deathblow to last.fm!

Saving playlists, for one.

It's beyond awesome when I'm in the mood for music.

As far as streaming goes it is alright, better than pandora. It'd work if I didn't have my music on me but I did set up a server so I can have it whenever.

It's pretty awesome -- much better than Last.FM, but I tested it out on some of the more obscure artists in my personal catalogue, including:

Big City Orchestra
Eugene Chadbourne
The Henrys
Shockabilly

... and it came up empty. Given that the majority of what I listen to is very obscure, it still has a ways to go for me, but it's well ahead of any similar service at this point. Counterstream Radio is still the best way of streaming avant-garde music that I know of though :P

Disappointingly this uses flash so I have no sound (bravo Adobe).

I tried to put in a fairly well known danish artist called Tue West and only 2 songs off his first album were there however he has 3 albums out now.

I am some what unimpressed by Grooveshark so far, I think I will be holding out for Spotify to arrive in Denmark before any of these streaming services will win me over.

For people that say we Flex developers are useless:

Eat your words. Grooveshark is one of the best Flex applications around.

I love it :) I've been using it to preview songs from albums I'm interested in purchasing for a radio show I'm working on.

It's free, unless you choose to pay for VIP (https://vip.grooveshark.com/).
I haven't found a way to download the songs you play. But then, I have my own legal way to get music for free.
If by restrictions / rules, you mean "do they disallow you to skip songs a certain number of times?", then no, there are no restrictions like that.

I don't know about "legality" (please, use this for legal purposes), the easy solution to get all media from a website is: HTTPRipper. (http://29a.ch/httpripper/) However, one should read terms and conditions to see if this is prohibited for Grooveshark.

I started using Grooveshark after my Pandora 40 hour allotment was used up. I like to listen to Classic Rock and w/Pandora it seems to give me a different list each time I visit. With Grooveshark its the same list? The list is actually quite small as well.....hmmm. I guess I'll keep checking out the site as I maybe missing something....

I'm having a small problem with Grooveshark - none of the buttons on the song icons in the current songs viewer work, except for play/pause. For example, clicking on the favorite, share, delete or recommendations buttons does nothing. Any ideas?

bumping here for some questions,

Why does HTTPRipper record and save audio files as .php from Grooveshark?

I have to rename them as mp3 then they are recognized by mp3players.
That takes a long time when there are many files.

Q: what is .php?
Q: can i rename many/all files in one go?
Q: is there a better alternative to HTTPRipper ?

Php is a scripting language... the fileextension happens due to httpripper
Yea you can prolly rename them with a lil script... in PHP for example :-P

Yes of course there is a better alternative to download SOngs from Grooveshark.com then HTTPRipper.

There is a tool named Groovedown and it works like hell. It runs on Windows natively and with the help of wine it also runs on Linux and Mac :-)

I also just found it a week ago but it does a great job since then :-)

May check it out : Groovedown (http://groovedown.tasteless.us) and download your Songs from Grooveshark.com
