I am trying to upgrade ubuntu 8.1 to 8.04 using the alternate cd download. I am pursuing this method because I am getting ridiculous download times when going through the package manager. I downloaded the alternate cd iso via bit torrent. Mounted it and then ran

gksu "sh /cdrom/cdromupgrade"

I received the following error message:
'Unable to locate any package files, perhaps this is not a Ubuntu Disc or the wrong architecture?'

Any ideas what might cause this problem?

Hi Ron, there is no such thing as "Ubuntu 8.1." Are you referring to Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex? If so, the 10 stands for October, which means it is a newer version than Ubuntu 8.04 (April 2008 ), so going from Ubuntu 8.10 to 8.04 is not actually an upgrade.
