I am absolutely confounded that ubuntu doesn't look like this (http://kde-look.org/content/preview.php?preview=2&id=72811&file1=72811-1.jpg&file2=72811-2.jpg&file3=&name=Ultra+pack+-+220+color+schemes) when I get it (for gnome of course) (http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Ultra+pack+-+220+color+schemes?content=84941)| I mean, windows and mac interfaces have reached the point of polishmento-du-max and kde-basic=UGLY, gnome-basic=UGLY, flux-basic=CLUNKY but as soon as someone actually adopts and nurtures them they look more brilliant than customise.org! I originally was going to come in here with the idea/poll! that MrShuttleworth should hire a UI-Designer for a month (gosh would his job be easy) and provide 5 UI options to start (human being #3-4 imho) but I think that I'll just have a rant ok?
What confounds me furthermore is that here ====== (http://www.gnome-look.org/index.php?xsortmode=down&page=0&xcontentmode=100) at gnome-look.org the 3 top LINUX-look choices are MacOS-X Aqua, T-ish Pack 3.2 (OS-X Tiger), and LiNsta 3 (Linux is Not Vista) 0.3 !?! This is not cool folks, not cool at all

Yeah, the defaults suck a bit...
PS: Try the shiki-color gnome theme. ( http://ppa.launchpad.net/gnome-colors-packagers/ppa/ubuntu )

Wow, I'd love my desktop to look like that!

Now, thats interesting. You think that windows and macs have polished interfaces, but you dont like mac and windows lookalike skins? Also, that was just most dled, those themes appear a bit lower in the 'rating' stakes-

Maybe people just dl the mac/win skins for ease of transition and/or showing off to non-linux users. (say someone who is running a vaugely mac-ish 'metal' theme, but I was running a metal theme on XP)
BTW, I do agree in some ways, the stock themes can be a bit, well, bland.

(after taking some time to cool down) I must add that I'm very happy with what I've got (http://fav.me/d27iocl)

I do like Human. My only complaint is not being able to change the main colors. i.e: change the brown header of all windows to green or purple or something, without losing the gradient or rounded edges.

You are preaching to the choir-
And they don't need to hire anyone, just grab a few of the better themes from the desktop threads...
