I was wondering if you are having problems burning CDs with brasero in ubuntu??

Everytime that I feel like wasting several CDs I use brasero. It is so eficient in doing so, that I need to burn 10 CDs to get one right (if I am lucky enough).

How does your Brasero behave?

Brasero works mostly good here, but sometimes it fails. I feel that K3B has a much higher rate of success on my system.

Works fine most of the time. Not as good as K3B though :)

Nevertheless, the devs are quick at addressing bug reports. So I suggest report bugs as much as you could and help it make better. http://live.gnome.org/Brasero

I tried K3B, but I think it was worse. Well, I dont have a comparison point, so I couldn't tell which was better or worse.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll do that next time I get an error message.

As far as I know, brasero and k3b both make use of a command line tool called 'wodim'. So each program really ought to function the same way as the other. At least in the sence of wasting CDs.

I would think there is a problem with my burner, but, I burnt some stuff using my windows partition and there was no problem. So, I dont think is a hardware problem, or I might be wrong.

Brasero has been 100% for me.

_____Edit_____

I looked around for a list of Brassero/cdrtools compatible hardware, but couldn't find such a list. Anyone know of one?

Benzaa, have you looked for others who have the same problem with your particular model of CD-R/DVD-R drive?

Never had a problem with Brasero. I also have Nero, but I prefer Brasero.

I have never had a single problem with Brasero, but I have had several with K3B.

Brasero works fine for me. Might be your burner settings.

Except of course UDF disks, which is a burner problem because no program seems to be able to burn a UDF disk on my burner without making it into a coaster.

Never had any problem with brasero, but I rarely burn these days.

...so it seems it is a problem with my CD writer.

I'll google it and see if I can find something related to it.

Used Brasero in Hardy without a problem. Just did 2 DVDs and went smooth as always.

I had problems in Intrepid before and used k3b, which did the trick there.

Well, when I browse the forums more people have problems with Brasero. Also check this bug list:
