I burned the CD for Xubuntu (Wubi) and with the installer I installed Ubuntu, does that matter? Because I can't connect to the internet and when I use Synaptic to install stuff from my CD, it says that it can't find the right CD.

doesn't really matter.

There should be some other reason that you can't connect to internet. check the dmesg for any errors related to your network card and did your device pick an IP?
