Is there a way to force ubuntu to switch to battery power while it is plugged in? I am using an ibook g4, if that is relevant.

Thanks in advance...

I don't think so. I'd guess that the switching between AC and DC power is done at a low level in the system hardware. Not likely something that software would be able to control.

If I needed to so something like this, I would modify my ac power lead with a switch near the connector jack, so it's easy to reach. Or I'd just unplug it. Why do you need to be using battery power when the AC is on anyway?

Thank you for the reply. I'm working with an ibook with a faulty logic board, which cuts off the power if you unplug it when the battery is fully charged, but not when the battery is charging. I was hoping for a way around that.

That must be irritating to say the least. Might be best to just keep an eye on the battery level for now until you can get that hardware looked at.
