On installing Recommended updates my system crashed. On reset an error box appears about not logging out properly and problem may be seen in ~/xsession-errors file. The login screen appears on pressing return where nothing happens after entering user name and password.
I've reloaded OS 9.04 a twice and the same error crops up. I have Ubuntu 8.10 on another partition and can access the 9.04 partition but can't find xsession-error file.
Any suggestions?
