I am trying to install version 9.04.

My rig:
Opteron 165
Lanparty ultra-d mobo
2 gigs RAM
GFX card EVGA 7800gt

I boot from from the cd and the page with install options comes up. I choose "Install".
Next there is a status bar that loads, a cursor appears with an orange graphic in the background. This is where it freezes. A small white rectangle appears on the top left and it has glitchy nonsense in it. Thats all that I can do/

I have re-downloaded the ISO and reburned the cd with the same problems.

Before starting the install process try the "boot without make changes" option to make sure that Ubuntu works on your system. The go to the next step.

At the menu screen press [F4] to start the install in text mode. Text mode just means it won't be loading all of the graphics to start the install. Instead of using the mouse, you will be using the arrow buttons on your keyboard.
