so, my league that i've been in since randy moss' rookie year, has it's draft coming up. the problem is that the majority of the participants are not local. we've always had a live draft and would like to keep it that way. last year, during a hurricane, we were all on a giant conference call and that proved to be a nightmare. yahoo does have the facility for a live online draft, but it involves flash and i'd like to avoid that. AIM seems more reasonable, but that has created problems in the past, as well. so, i was thinking that setting up an irc channel for the draft would be a good option. i really don't know anything about irc, though, so i'm wondering just how good an idea this is. most of the participants will be using windows.

I have no idea what a draft is but IRC is very easy. You can all simply login to irc.ubuntu.com (irc.freenode.net) and join a random channel. No registration required.

Windows users can use the Mirc client or they can just go to http://webchat.freenode.net/ and chat with their browser.

oh yeah, sorry. it's a draft process for fantasy football (the american variety you might know better as "kick, toss and scamper"). i'd need to have a private channel.
