Video not playing !!

Hi, i am facing this problem for the last 2 weeks, i am unable to play any videos :( i have ubuntu jaunty ..
only smplayer opens the files but only audio is played .. no video !!

it was working fine, dont quiet remember the last change i made before it stopped working ..

i have tried many things ..
i am looking forward to getting a soln from here ..

Try to use a different video driver (in smplayer: preferences -> general -> video).

The video on my laptop has stopped working. Blank screen but sound keeps going. All video applications affected. Has there been an upgrade that could have caused this?

I tried a different screen resolution (higher) and now works fine.

i still have not been able to resolve this ..

i shall explain what exactly happens,
I double click on a video,
it opens in vlc and in two seconds the window closes without any error or anything.
If i right click on it and try open as using n=many options listed including smplayer same result.


Please help me.
