Hi,

I want to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix from a USB stick onto a hard disk other than the primary one (USB drive or stick). I was wondering if the Ubuntu Installer makes any changes to the primary hard disk (e.g. updating the boot records) like the Windows installer is known to do.

I'd like to use my wife's computer temporarily with running Ubuntu but if the installer makes any changes to Windows XP boot on the primary disk she's going to kill me ;-).

Thanks in advance!

if you want to install ubuntu on an external hdd, we are discussing it here:

if your pc has two internal hard drives, you can install ubuntu on the secondary drive, then select which os you want from boot menu.
