Hey there guys. This is my first post on the Ubuntu forums and I am looking forward to becoming a part of this community. I am of course a n00b and my first problem came sooner than expected.

When I start up with the Ubuntu 9.04 cd and choose the option to install the OS it only goes past the loading bar screen and then it just goes blank. Nothing happens after that.

I have read about others having the same problem, but none of their solutions worked for me. I want to know if you guys have found a solution for this problem on this forum. I have read some similar posts, but I am not sure if those are exactly the same issues that I am dealing with.

Thanks

The X-windows system is in the middle of a painful multiyear transition to newer and better ways of supporting video chips. Ubuntu in particular has been suffering a lot of video breakage along the way. Probably 9.04 is having issues with your video chip. Try a different version, either older such as 8.10 or bleeding edge such as 9.10 alpha 4.

Assuming you've read the release notes and minimum system requirements ....

....try and select safe graphics mode (F4). If that does not work, try the alternate install method.
