hi.

i installed the wubi (i think...ubuntu inside windows XP?) awhile ago and then uninstalled it. it would seem that the uninstaller did a half-assed job. it neither removed the boot menu at startup nor restored hibernation functionality. i solved the boot menu thing, but how do i get hibernation back? I tried the standalone ubuntu uninstaller at one point, but it didn't do anything. I doubled clicked, got an hourglass for half a second, then nothing happened.

another question...after this ubuntu fiasco, my computer started making a crunchy/clicky sound about once a second, as though it's reading the hard drive. it drives me crazy. could this possibly be related to the loss of hibernation?

thanks time a billion. this forum is super helpful. i wish i had something to contribute other than gripes.

hi..

You should run disk cleanup and then defragment. There may be something left behind causing you problems, though there shouldn't be.
