Right, well i've installed Ubuntu Studio on a mac os x running parallels, and it all went smoothely except when I start up the ubuntu no graphics appear like i'm sure they're meant to. It just asks for my username and password in a black background with white writing and then accepts it and seems to want me to type in commands as if it was a termianl or ms-dos or whatever the linux equivalent is. Why is it like this? I'm sure it's meant to have graphics and display the desktop ect.?

Thanks very much for any help,

Tom

One possible reason, you've installed the server edition, which has no GUI.
If that's the case, you can either reinstall using the desktop cd, or add the GUI by installing ubuntu-desktop from CLI. If that's not the case, try this guide: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/nox.
