Hello,

I have been a happy user of Ubuntu 8.10 on my Macbook (Pro 1.1 if you want details), so I decided to upgrade. I usually choose a clean install of a new OS for extra stability, and that's why I got the Live CD. It burned ok, and it booted from the CD.

Then I discovered a problem. After I selected something from the menu, as in after the language selection, the CD started to spin but then stopped again, while the screen remained unchanged. So I rebooted the system. Still no effect. So I let it stand for a while. After about an hour later I came back and the screen was now black. It said the computer had a kernel panic. I re-read the documentation, but couldn't see any problems (other than that the Jaunty for Macbook Pro 1.1 wiki page is still a draft). I have completely no idea how to fix the problem.

So a quick summary:

Ubuntu 9.4
Live CD
Freezes when selecting something from menu
After long time displays 'kernel panic'
Macbook Pro 1.1

Do you have any suggestions on how to fix the problem?

(Sorry if it's such a huge block of text, but I tend to explain all the details in one go).
