View Full Version : [ubuntu] Jaunty boots slow, spins hard-drive like crazy

This has started a couple of days ago, presumably after an update.

My Jaunty-running Toshiba M200 used to boot very fast on the ext4 root file system. Not anymore.

It now boots quite slow, slower than a Vista machine. It spends a lot of time with something after the line "Activating the swapfile ... [OK]" and the hard drive is spinning like hell.

It is quite annoying, I am now used to quick booting.

Does anyone have a similar issue with Jaunty?

It takes 90 seconds to get over the step which spins the hard-drive.

Maybe recreate your swap-file partition using GParted and see if that makes any difference.

Good idea, I will try this.
