Beginner install questions

i am newbie to Linux and i don't have internet connections... i have to install some software offline from .deb package .. the installation shows error like "Dependency is not satisfactory"..
some dependency files i try to install are in .tar package.. if i try to install those with Make command it shows Architecture not defined .. so so errors ...

any body get me steps to install essential package for offline users

Hi, you need to install the dependencies for those packages you are trying to install. You can manually install them by searching for them here (http://packages.ubuntu.com/) (can be a lengthy process manually installing all the required dependencies) Or you can use Keyrx (http://keryxproject.org/) which is a lot easier and allows you to download the packages you want and all their dependencies all at once.
