View Full Version : [ubuntu] No sound

Just did a fresh install on a dell studio, everything went well but when it got to 100% on the install it kind of froze. waited a while then restarted. everything is working fine but there is no sound. help meee

System>preferences>sound to test sound.Then applications>sound&video>volume control>prefrences>select master and PCM ( and other if you need it) and when you see them on window push buttons up.

EDIT: do you have ubuntu-restricted-extras installed?If not then in applications>accessories>terminal type


sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

I installed the restricted extras, to no avail. There is no audio control in the sound and video in applications. ANything else?

Go into System > Preferences > Main Menu
On the left click Sound & Video
On the right click Volume Control

Still no go. Everthing seems to be in line with volume controls.
