I have the latest Xubuntu on my desktop and the latest Ubuntu on my laptop. I installed the Ubuntu via Wubi and the Xubuntu straight from a disk. I have installed vlc via apt-get on both, but on my laptop I have cvlc and on my desktop I don't. I can't figure out what to do about this. Please help!
:)

Install the vlc-nox package to get cvlc.

I installed vlc-nox and it didn't make cvlc appear. I tried uninstalling vlc and having just vlc-nox which made vlc a command line application which is pretty cool, but not what I want exactly. I'd like to have vlc start the gui VLC and cvlc start the command-line vlc like on my laptop. I'm finding this very confusing :S

I was using such an old version of Ubuntu that cvlc wasn't in the repository yet. All fixed now.
